If your home has a smart meter, you're eligible to enroll in ComEd's Peak Time Savings (PTS) program and earn a credit on your energy bill when you participate voluntarily on days with Peak Time Savings Summer Hours. There is no cost to enroll and you can remain in the program for as long as you like.

ComEd will credit your energy bill on hot summer days when you reduce your energy usage below your recent average use during Peak Time Savings Summer Hours. Between May 1 and October 31, ComEd will announce Peak Time Savings Summer Hours when energy is most in demand. These events typically occur in the afternoon between the hours of 11am to 7 pm, usually on 1 to 2 days in the summer.
Announcements always occur the morning of the event, day-ahead notifications are never possible. But remember, there’s no penalty for not participating in any particular Peak Time Savings Summer Hours, and you can always participate during the next one.
When you enroll, you can choose to be notified by phone call, text message or email. You must select at least one channel to remain enrolled in the program. You will be notified on the day Peak Time Savings Summer Hours occur — as early as 9 a.m. or at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the event. PTS Summer Hours are also announced on Facebook and Twitter, so follow ComEd in social media to ensure you never miss an opportunity to earn a bill credit!
When you participate, ComEd will credit your monthly bill for reducing your energy use during Peak Time Savings Summer Hours. A credit will appear as actual dollars off the total amount due on your next energy bill or the following bill. There is no penalty for not participating. You just won't earn a credit on your energy bill for that day. And, you can still participate in future Peak Time Savings Summer Hours.
The amount your energy bill will be credited will be based on how much energy usage you reduced during Peak Time Savings Summer Hours compared to what you typically would have consumed.
