Project Summary

Print Loop is a screen printing and embroidery company in Elgin that specializes in promotional goods. After hearing about the ComEd Energy Efficiency Program through other local businesses, they scheduled a free energy assessment through the online assessment tool, which helps interested businesses link up with ComEd Energy Efficiency Service Providers. Through the tool, Print Loop was able to get their project in motion quickly and easily.

The Solution

Print Loop is run out of a decades-old building that was outfitted with antiquated fluorescent lighting which caused issues with quality control. Clients require specific colors to be used in their products and gauging the accuracy of these colors was difficult under the old lighting. LED fixtures and bulbs were installed in both the print shop and office areas, which provided cleaner, more consistent light. The print room staff can now verify colors with greater ease.

The Team

Business owner Dave Pool was impressed with the range of lighting options presented to him and the flexibility of the Service Provider who carefully worked around Print Loop's tight production quarters.

“The Service Provider made the proposal in a way that just made sense. They explained and detailed everything nicely, so it made it very easy for us,” said Pool.

Energy-Saving Improvements

The new LED fixtures and bulbs produce brighter, cleaner light in addition to saving Print Loop money. In addition to installing LED technology in the office spaces, occupancy sensors were installed to ensure Print Loop only uses energy in these areas as needed.

“I know it was a smaller project, but they explained everything and did what they said they would do, which is very pleasing,” said Pool. “All in all, I consider it a win-win for everyone.”

"I went to the ComEd site, reviewed the material, and checked out the tool. It was very simple."
