ComEd's Energy Force is a one-of-a-kind program that trains adults with developmental disabilities to serve as ambassadors for ComEd's Energy Efficiency Program.
ComEd will provide training about the basics of energy efficiency, our smart grid, and sustainable energy sources for all the selected ambassadors in December. Following their training, ambassadors will help the public understand the benefits of energy efficiency and conservation at home. They will teach people simple energy-saving tips by creating fun, interactive demonstrations.
Each ambassador is expected to conduct 12 events between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021 - at their own organizations, at ComEd-sponsored events, and in the community-at-large (including virtual events). In return, we ask that you record each event in a ComEd-hosted Google doc that includes a summary of the events in which you participated.
Additionally, participants are asked to send photos of their ambassadors' interactions for potential use in internal/external promotions of the team and collect email addresses for the ComEd Energy Efficiency program mailing list.
Participating nonprofits must be in and serve Illinois residents within ComEd's service territory. If your organization is selected to participate in the Energy Force program, you will receive a $7,500 contribution to pay an ambassador a stipend for their participation (amount is at your discretion) and to cover any staff, travel, or other costs associated with event coordination.
Your organization will be expected to assign a staff member (job coach) who will attend training and assist the ambassador in scheduling events and keeping track of inventory.
Applications are now open through December 3rd. Please reach out to Sean Moloney with questions.
