AUSTIN, Texas (Dec. 12, 2019) – ComEd's investments in the electric grid supported by the work of its 6,000 employees has improved reliability by 60 percent and earned a 2019 ReliabilityOne™ Most Improved Utility Award from PA Consulting.
This award is presented to recipients in recognition of notable sustained improvements in their effort avoid power interruptions. PA has identified utilities that have exhibited highest sustained levels in reliability in both duration and frequency over the past five years.

"We're honored to be recognized with a ReliabilityOne award for our ongoing work to improve system reliability for our customers and communities."
ComEd's smart grid investments helped deliver fewer and shorter power outages for northern Illinois residents and businesses in 2018, with overall reliability improving more than 60 percent since 2012. Since ComEd started its smart grid investments in 2012, customers have enjoyed 45 percent fewer outages on average. Additionally, in 2018 customers saw record reliability in the city of Chicago, where the frequency of outages has been reduced by nearly 60 percent since 2012.
ComEd joined its sister Exelon utilities at Pepco and Atlantic City Electric in receiving the award.

All utilities operating electric delivery networks in North America are eligible for consideration for the ReliabilityOne™ Most Improved Utility Award. The selection of provisional recipients is based primarily on system reliability statistics that measure the frequency and duration of customer outages. After provisional recipients are selected, each company undergoes an on-site certification process, which provides an independent review and confirmation of the policies, processes and systems used to collect, analyze and report a company's reliability results.
