ComEd Employee’s Ingenuity Wins Award

Award highlights innovations that lead to improvement for companies and industry

CHICAGO (March 16, 2016) – ComEd employee Lorinda Alms was recently honored by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) for her work in applying research and development (R&D) that led to determining levels of polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) in electrical equipment.

She, along with Keith Kowalski and David Mobraaten of Exelon sister utility, PECO, in Philadelphia received the Technology Transfer Award, given annually to EPRI members who have explored and implemented innovative technologies on behalf of the company and the industry.

"Innovation is ingrained in ComEd's culture and our employees are dedicated to developing inventive solutions that are focused on advancing safety and bringing tangible benefits to our customers, communities and the environment," said Terence R. Donnelly, ComEd executive vice president and COO. "We are proud of this award and congratulate Lorinda on her great work to support a safer and more sustainable environment."

The award was presented during meetings of EPRI's environment advisors in Phoenix, AZ, on March 1. EPRI presented its 2015 Technology Transfer Awards for environmental research and development to a total of 43 individuals, representing 24 electric power companies.

"The 2015 Technology Transfer Award winners made significant achievements in applying EPRI research results, or acting as champions for EPRI research programs," said Anda Ray, senior vice president, energy, environment and external relations and chief sustainability officer at EPRI. "The commitment and collaboration demonstrated by these individuals and teams enables the power industry to shape a sustainable future for electricity and advance environmental research for the benefit of their stakeholders and society."
