Overhead Service Revision


For all relocation projects (due to the planned installation of a building/home addition, garage, out building, shed, swimming pool, hot tub, deck, gazebo or any other structure) contact ComEd in advance of construction of the new structure to ensure required clearances are met.

Required Information

If you have an existing overhead electrical service that requires a relocation, an upgrade or voltage revision (e.g. main service upgrade from 100 amps to 200 amps), the following information is required:

  • Permit number (for City of Chicago requests only)
  • Address of project
  • Customer name, mailing address, phone, fax and email
  • Tax ID number, Social security number or other form of positive identification
  • Electrician, Contractor or Owner contact information
  • Service characteristics (such as multi-unit building, upgrade, revision, etc.)
  • Date service is needed
  • One-line diagram (when applicable)
  • Upgrades or revisions requiring additional load

Process and Time Frame

You will be required to submit a completed electric service application. Upon completion of the application, a dedicated ComEd representative will be assigned to your project. After ComEd receives confirmation that the project has passed municipal inspection, it can take anywhere from 6 to 16 weeks to complete the overhead electric service, depending on the amount of work required.
