We appreciate our veterans and all you have sacrificed for us with your service. CHAMP is a financial assistance program that offers benefits to our eligible activated, deployed and honorably discharged military personnel who may have fallen behind on your electric bill.
Benefits may include cancellation of late fees, deposit reduction, and a grant amount up to $1000 (once every two years, while funds are available) towards a past-due balance.
You are eligible to apply if you demonstrate a financial hardship and are a current or honorably discharged veteran member of the U.S. Armed Forces, National Guard or Reserves.
Attach form letter regarding Soldier’s and Sailor’s Civil Relief Act of 1940, 50 U.S.C. App., Sections 501-590 or your appropriate military branch's form letter pertaining to activation.
Attach a copy of Activation Orders or similar documents pertaining to the order to Active Duty.
Honorably Discharged Personnel
Attach copy of your discharge letter (must be honorably discharged with a minimum of two years of service).

How long does it take?
CHAMP takes an average of 7 business days to review. You will typically receive an application response within that timeframe.
What if CHAMP has questions?
If ComEd has questions about the materials you submitted, we’ll reach out to you using the phone number and/or email associated with your account. Ensure we have an accurate email and phone number on file for you under your Online Account.
How do I receive assistance?
Once your assistance has been approved, you’ll see a line item on your billing statement indicating the credit type and amount.
