Give your home a performance tune-up
Overview
ComEd has a special offer for customers who live in a home with electric space heating and electric water heat. We have contracted Honeywell Utility Services to provide customers without natural gas or propane services with an evaluation of your home and energy usage habits. This service in itself can lead to changes that may reduce your electricity usage, plus Honeywell will also recommend and install energy efficiency products to help you immediately reduce your electricity usage.
Eligibility
A small percentage of our customers use electricity to heat their homes and run their hot water heaters. This special offer is only open to these customers.
What to expect on-site
- Upon arrival, a Honeywell technician wearing a ComEd photo ID badge will have the last 12 months of your home’s electricity usage loaded into an evaluation software program.
- You will accompany your technician around your home as he or she notes the number of appliances you have and the relative efficiency of each appliance. Your technician will briefly check attic insulation levels and discuss occupant energy usage habits—such as, how many people are home during the day, temperature set points, loads of laundry per week, etc.
- Your technician will identify up to ten light fixtures that would benefit from a compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulb, and install these CFLs for you.
- If your electric water heater could be more energy efficient and its accessible, your technician will install up to six feet of pipe insulation on your main hot water pipes. He or she may also install low-flow aerators and showerheads in your baths and a special low-flow swivel aerator on your kitchen faucet.
- You will be charged $25 for the tune up.
