Standard screw-in CFLs (up to 26w) are not eligible for Program Year 2 incentives. Larger or specialized CFLs may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Be sure to contact the ComEd Smart Ideas team at (888) 806-2273 to discuss your options.

CFLs were removed from the prescriptive program this year and we encourage our customers to consider making a more permanent change by purchasing cold cathode lamps, hardwired CFLs, or LED fixtures. If you cannot purchase fixtures now there are still a few options for purchasing CFLs through ComEd’s  online store at www.energyfederation.org/smartideas/default.php.

We have a wide variety of energy saving products available including discounted CFLs. You also can  purchase up to 12 discounted CFLs at various retailers including do-it-yourself, hardware, grocery and discount retailers. Just be sure to look for the Smart Ideas logo.

ComEd’s Smart Ideas program covers projects that involve retrofits and major renovations. A new construction incentive offering, which started June 1, 2009, provides tools, information and incentives to the design and construction community to incorporate high-efficiency measures into their building designs. The ComEd Smart Ideas team is in the process of contacting customer applicants to determine their interest in moving their waitlisted projects into Program Year 3. If you have not yet started your project and would like to move it to Program Year 3, you will be able to do so without providing another application, unless the scope of your project has changed. If the scope has changed, you may be asked to update your application of provide more information about the project after March 1, 2020, when the Program Year application forms are available.

Wait list projects may be started at any time. To be eligible for Program Year 3 funds, wait list projects must be completed after June 1, 2010, and they will be subject to Program Year 3 terms and conditions. If the project is completed before June 1, 2010, it is eligible only for funds form the current program year if funds are available. 

If you submit a final application before June 1, 2010, the project will be considered a Program year 2 project. Program Year 2 funds may not be available.  

Here are the dates you need to keep in mind for Program Year 3:

Application and incentives will be available on-line March 1, 2010.

Between March 1 and June 1, 2010, you can:

Submit new pre-approval applications for Program Year 3 using the PY3 application forms. Reservation and pre-inspections will be done as usual

Place equipment orders and start  PY3 projects

Submit final applications for Program Year 2 projects with reservations only

After June 1, 2010, you can:

Complete PY3 projects

Submit final applications for PY3

Final inspections and payments will start after June 1

If you submit a final application before June 1, 2010, the project will be considered a Program Year 2 project. Remember, there is a waiting list in effect for PY2 lighting projects.
