Learn how to apply for business incentives
ComEd is offering incentives under the ComEd Smart Ideas for Your Business Program to facilitate the implementation of cost-effective energy-efficiency improvements for non-residential (commercial and industrial) customers.
Application steps
Step 1: Check project eligibility - Equipment must be new and installed in a non-residential building on a qualified ComEd rate schedule. Please read all terms and conditions to confirm your project will qualify.
Step 2: Check equipment eligibility - Equipment must meet the specifications as explained in the applications. Please read these carefully and confirm that your equipment meets these requirements.
Step 3: Apply for a reservation - Requests for reservations may be submitted on or after June 1, 2009. Complete and sign the application. Pre-approval reservations are required for all custom and some prescriptive incentives and are strongly encouraged for all projects. A reservation does not guarantee an incentive. Incentives will be calculated based on the final application. Be sure to include all of the required documentation with your application.
Step 4: Complete the project - Be sure the specified equipment meets the program requirements and you have a reservation (if required) before ordering equipment.
Step 5: Submit a final application - Within 60 days of project completion, submit a final application along with all of the required documentation. Incomplete documentation will delay processing and payment of an incentive. Projects cannot begin before April 1, 2009.
Notes
- Funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is an incentive limit of $100,000 for prescriptive and $200,000 for custom per site.
- Public buildings such as a government office and schools should refer to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) Program.
- Customers may not apply for energy efficiency incentives from ComEd and DCEO for the same project or measure.
- Fuel-switching (i.e., from oil or natural gas to electric equipment), renewable, or combined heat and power technologies do not qualify for incentives.
