Smart Meter Connected Devices

Smart devices meet your smart meter. Smart Meter Connected Devices (SMCD) allow residential customers to connect and use wireless devices for access to detailed electricity usage information.

Take Control of Your Energy Costs

Got a smart meter? Smart Meter Connected Devices help you take control of your energy costs. The ComEd Smart Meter Connected Devices (SMCD) service enables you to receive electricity usage and estimated electricity cost information through a smart device that is wirelessly connected to the ComEd smart meter at your home. With access to more information about your electricity usage, you can make changes that can help you manage your electric bills.

Discover the Benefits

Smart Meter Connected Devices (SMCD) communicate with the smart meter at your home to provide you access to more information about your electricity use so you can:

  • Better understand how much electricity you use
  • Take control of your electricity use
  • Make changes that can help you manage your electric bills

Determine Which Smart Devices Are Right for You

There are a variety of smart devices available, the most common of which are In-Home Displays (IHDs). IHDs are table-top devices that allow you to view your electricity usage and estimated electricity cost information shortly after electricity is used. Other smart devices that may communicate with the smart meter at your home include controllable thermostats, range extenders and Internet gateways. See the Smart Meter Connected Devices List (pdf) for devices which have been tested by ComEd to be compatible with ComEd smart meters. For a full description of the types of devices available, please see the Customer Guide (pdf).
