Emerging Technologies

ComEd is always interested in exploring new energy efficiency concepts that can lead to sustainable, verified energy savings and potentially be introduced as a new energy-efficient technology or practice in the ComEd Energy Efficiency Program.

What's Your Big Idea?

We’d love to hear it. Before submitting your idea, make sure your technology is commercially available or your practice has proven results in saving energy. The concept can be new or existing. Our ComEd Emerging Technology team will review your submitted proposal and your opportunity assessment describing how the concept will add to the existing ComEd energy efficiency offerings. Your opportunity assessment must include a description of the following:

  • Targeted market sector (Residential, Commercial or Industrial)
  • Concept focus (e.g., Sustainable Design, System Integration, Operations)
  • Available industry or secondary data proving energy savings
  • Installation costs, incremental cost to the customer and estimated energy savings

The technology must be cost-effective as required by Illinois law. Accepted concepts will be considered for available rebates as long as the project is completed within the ComEd service territory through the ComEd Energy Efficiency Program.
